Meet lukas
I write queer love stories where desire is honest, feelings run deep, and the ending is earned.
No matter the story, the promise stays the same: Always queer. Always spicy. Always happily ever after.
How did I find queer romance?
Before Lukas Gaines, I wrote under other pen names, and those books found their way onto the USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Amazon bestseller lists. I’m a gay man who’s been married to my husband for over twelve years. Somehow, I still went way too long before realizing queer romance was its own vast, thriving genre.
I discovered it in the most roundabout way: at a writing conference, while pitching a manuscript that wasn’t a fit for the room in more ways than one. In the conversation afterward, someone asked a question that stopped me cold:
“Have you read any gay romance?”
I hadn’t. But once I started, I fell hard — for the heat (obviously), and for the yearning, the humor, the tenderness, the ache of being seen, and the relief of well-earned Happily Ever Afters. These stories weren’t niche at all. They were love stories with the volume turned up on everything I wanted to hear.
So that’s what I write now: queer romance with big feelings, real heat, and endings you can trust.
A few queer romances I love (and recommend), from heartfelt to spicy:
